T2

Near the T2 check-in zone, India Post handles last-minute mail

India Post in Chennai International’s T2 sits landside, before security, so plan time to use it at least 30–40 minutes before you head to screening. It’s the standard government post office counter, good for dropping letters and small parcels you forgot to send in the city. Expect basic counters, forms, and scales, not a glossy airport boutique.

Because this is a regular India Post outlet, you get domestic and international mailing at normal postal rates instead of inflated airport prices. You can pick up stamps for quick postcards or send paperwork back home without hunting for a courier in town. Staff follow standard post office hours, typically aligned with daytime flight banks; don’t count on service late night after the last big T2 departures.

Bring your passport number and local address if you’re shipping something of value or using registered or speed post. Packaging supplies are limited, so arrive with items already boxed or padded; at best, you might find simple envelopes. Payments usually run through cash and standard Indian digital methods like UPI, but card acceptance can be hit-or-miss, so carry some rupees.

One practical tip: T2 security and check-in can easily eat 30–60 minutes at busy times, so finish your India Post errands first, then head straight to your airline counter. If you’re tight on time, stick to stamped letters and postcards, which process faster than parcels and paperwork-heavy services.
