Aelia Duty Free

Gate-side duty free in Terminal 1

Aelia Duty Free sits airside in Terminal 1 at Lyon Saint-Exupéry, a few minutes’ walk from most Schengen gates. It’s the standard walkthrough layout, so you pass through it after security before reaching the main boarding area. If you want anything duty free at LYS Terminal 1, this is the main stop.

Opening hours usually track the morning and evening bank of flights, roughly 05:30 until around the last departures from Terminal 1, but exact times shift with the schedule. You’ll find the usual duty free mix: French wines and Champagne, big-brand spirits, fragrance, cosmetics and some snackable gifts to bring onboard.

Prices on spirits and perfume at Aelia Duty Free in T1 generally line up with other French airports, so 1L bottles of mainstream whisky or gin often sit in the €20–€30 range, with Champagne starting higher, especially for well-known houses. Tobacco is sold under the typical allowance rules, so have your route and limits in mind at the till.

Food gifts here lean French: boxed chocolates, biscuits and regional items tagged “Rhône-Alpes” or “Lyon,” plus standard travel sweets for under €10. If you just want a quick snack before boarding from Terminal 1, it’s fine, but for a real meal you’re better off hitting a café or restaurant elsewhere in the terminal.

Final tip: if you’re tight on time for a Schengen flight from Terminal 1, walk straight through Aelia, head to your gate, and only circle back to shop once you see your aircraft and a stable boarding time on the screens.
