Le Grand Comptoir

Contact

Five minutes from Terminal 1 security, Le Grand Comptoir is the sit-down option before Schengen departures at Lyon Saint-Exupéry. It sits landside in Terminal 1, so you can eat here even if you’re meeting someone arriving or checking in early. Expect a brasserie-style menu with French standards and a few safer international picks aimed at short-haul flyers.

Food runs mid-range by airport standards: plan on around €15–€20 for a main and €3–€5 for coffee or soft drinks. You’ll see burgers, salads, croque-monsieur, and pastry, plus wine by the glass in the €5–€7 range. Portions lean European rather than US-sized, so a starter plus main is a good idea if you’re hungry and have more than 45 minutes before boarding from Terminal 1 gates.

Service timing matters here: with a typical Lyon–Paris or Lyon–Europe hop, you may only have 60–90 minutes gate-to-gate in Terminal 1. Staff generally turn tables in about 30–40 minutes for a quick main course and drink. If your boarding time is under 30 minutes away, stick to coffee, pre-made desserts, or a quick pastry instead of anything hot from the kitchen.

Expect the usual airport mark-up compared to central Lyon, especially for items like bottled water at roughly €3 and simple sandwiches around €7–€8. Seating is conventional brasserie tables just off the Terminal 1 check-in area, so you’re eating with a view of departure boards and the check-in rows rather than the runway. Noise levels track check-in peaks for flights in the 06:00–09:00 and late-afternoon waves.

Tip: if you’re flying from Terminal 2, factor in the short walk and any security line; finish your meal at Le Grand Comptoir at least 45 minutes before scheduled boarding and then head over to T2 to avoid a last-minute sprint.
