Gate-side carbs in Terminal 1 at Brioche Dorée
Two minutes from most Terminal 1 gates, Brioche Dorée is the default French bakery chain at LYS. It runs early until late in line with the first and last departures from T1, so you can grab something at 06:00 or closer to a 21:00 flight. Expect self-service fridges plus a counter with pastries and sandwiches, and pay at the single till that serves both coffee and food.
A basic espresso sits around a few euros, and a croissant or pain au chocolat usually comes in under €3, which is cheaper than many sit-down spots in Terminal 2. They rotate standard French bakery items: jambon-beurre baguettes, quiches, pastries, plus pre-packed salads. If you want something warm, ask them to reheat a quiche or sandwich; it takes 2–3 minutes, so don’t order hot food with a 10-minute boarding call.
Everything is grab-and-go behind security in Terminal 1, so this works well if you want food for a short hop to Paris, Nice, or a low-cost EU flight. Portions are modest: a single baguette sandwich is roughly 200–250g, which may not be enough for longer flights over 2–3 hours. Drinks run from bottled water at standard airport pricing to small fresh orange juice cups at a higher mark-up per 100 ml than the coffee.
There’s limited bar-style seating for roughly 10–15 people around Brioche Dorée in T1, and tables fill fast around the 07:00–09:00 bank of departures. Power outlets are hit or miss along the shared seating rows nearby, and there’s no table service, so you bus your own tray back to the rack. Lines spike right after security when multiple flights to Paris CDG and Orly board within 30–40 minutes.
Tip: if your gate in Terminal 1 is posted, buy first, then sit near the gate screens; it’s less than a 5-minute walk from Brioche Dorée to the furthest T1 boarding area, even with a rolling suitcase.
