Bar Three

Bar · International

Gate-side drinks near Terminal 1 departures start at 10:00

Bar Three sits airside in Terminal 1 at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, just past security, so you can stay close to your gate while you drink. It runs daily from 10:00 to 23:00, which covers the bulk of LUN’s midday and evening departures. Expect mid-range airport pricing at the $$ level, not lounge-cheap but not hotel-bar high either.

The menu leans international bar rather than local pub, with standard beers, wines, and mixed drinks alongside a couple of sweeter signatures. The house cocktail is the Lusaka Sunset, usually poured a bit heavy on the fruit and ice, and it’s the one item you actually remember after the flight. Food is limited to simple bar bites and snacks; don’t plan on a full sit-down meal here before a long-haul departure from Terminal 1.

Service pace lines up with the airport’s traffic: earlier in the day, around 10:00–14:00, staff can be quick, while the later evening wave near the 21:00–23:00 departures can slow things down. With a 4.2 rating overall, reviews land in the “good enough to kill an hour” bracket rather than destination drinking. Seating is tight near the counter, so small groups of two or three do better than larger parties trying to sit together close to the gate.

Watch out for the usual airport bar trap of losing track of time: there are no boarding announcements specific to every flight, and Terminal 1’s gates can still be a 5–10 minute walk from your stool. Tabs can creep up quickly once you pass the second cocktail at $$ pricing. One practical tip: settle your bill and head toward your gate as soon as your flight shows “boarding” on the main Terminal 1 screens, not when you see a final call message.
