ANA Lounge

T1 · near 22 Open · 06:00-22:00 10k sqft showers

Priority Pass holders use this ANA Lounge as the TAP escape

Upstairs in T1 above the main food court by gate 22, the ANA Lounge sits in the same escalator stack as TAP’s Schengen lounge but usually runs a notch quieter. It handles BA and AA premium passengers plus Priority Pass and other contract users, so it’s the default alternative when TAP turns away walk‑ups due to capacity. Space runs to roughly 900 m² with high ceilings and runway views, partly blocked by metal shutters in some sightlines.

Hours run 06:00–22:00 daily, with most Priority Pass entries capped at 3 hours from check‑in, and the system does flag overstay attempts. Staff sometimes enforce this more strictly in the mid‑morning and late‑afternoon peaks when TAP’s bank fills both lounges. If you’re on a late BA departure to London or an evening AA flight, you can usually sit closer to the full 3 hours without pushback.

The entrance is post‑security in Terminal 1’s Schengen zone, reached via two long escalators shared with TAP Premium; follow signs for “Lounges” above the food court and then turn left at the top for ANA. BA and AA agents generally print invitations at check‑in, while Priority Pass users just scan at the front desk. Check the monitor at the podium, as it sometimes shows a red “full” message even when there are still seats deeper inside.

Food is basic cold buffet: think supermarket‑level sandwiches, crackers, cheese, small pastries, and packaged snacks, with reviewers very clear that there is no hot food on offer. Soft drinks come from fridges, coffee from machines, and alcohol is self‑serve with standard wine and spirits, not premium labels. If you care about a real meal, people often grab a hot dish downstairs in the food court before riding the escalator up.

Showers are the main functional perk: use is free, but staff charge separately for towel sets, so frequent flyers bring a small travel towel from home to dodge the extra fee. At busy times the shower list fills and reviewers report “no openings,” so ask about availability as soon as you enter rather than after you’ve settled. Resting rooms and a smoking room sit off the main corridor and are easy to miss if you don’t walk the full length.

Seating runs more practical than plush, with rows of armchairs, café tables, and some high‑tops, and regulars rate it as a big improvement over the old Blue Lounge but not a place to stretch out for hours. Crowding spikes around TAP and BA banks, so BA/AA regulars aim either pre‑9:00 or after 19:00 for better odds of a quiet chair. Wi‑Fi handles email and streaming fine, though sockets near the panoramic windows go first.

Watch out for hit‑and‑miss service; at least one Tripadvisor review calls the staff unhelpful and the tone “hostile,” especially around closing time near 22:00 when they start clearing food early. If you arrive after 21:15, assume slim snack options and focus on drinks and a seat. Last useful tip: if both TAP and ANA look rammed at the top of the escalator, ANA usually empties a little faster, so loop once through ANA before giving up and heading back to T1’s public gates.
