This is Lihue Airport’s main Short Stay Parking lot, sitting about 0.3 miles from the terminal with a walk of roughly 5 minutes across Mokulele Loop. For genuinely quick runs inside, you get a 15-minute grace period that’s completely free, then the clock starts. If you expect to walk someone in, check a bag, and walk back out, budget under an hour here and you’ll usually be fine.

Rates are stacked to reward brief visits: after the free 15 minutes, the first 30 minutes cost $2 and the next 30 minutes are $3, so you’ll pay $5 total for the first full hour. From 31–60 minutes it runs $3, then each additional hour or partial hour up to 4 hours has its own tier at $3, $3, $4, and $4. After 5 hours, the meter flattens to $5 up to the 24‑hour mark, with a posted maximum of $24 per 24‑hour period even though the sign calls it short stay.

The entrance sits directly off Mokulele Loop, and the lot is immediately across from the terminal’s open‑air check‑in area, so most people walk from their car, cross the roadway once, and stand inside the building in about 2–3 minutes. That setup makes greeting someone at baggage claim or walking grandparents to the airline counter much easier than circling the curb for 20 minutes.

Regulars with local pickups often skip paying altogether: they wait in the free cell‑phone lot or loop nearby surface streets until a text says “I’m outside,” then roll straight to the curb without touching the ticket machine. Others do the opposite and intentionally park once, meet an arrival inside, grab a quick photo, and still exit under an hour so they only see that $5 charge on the way out.

Tip: If you’re dropping off or meeting someone, start a timer the moment you pull your ticket; it’s surprisingly easy to drift past the free 15 minutes and into the $2, then $5, bracket without noticing.
