Remote Parking

Remote

One main public lot at LIH means no true remote option

Lihue Airport runs a single public parking lot off Mokulele Loop, and the official site does not list any remote or shuttle-based economy parking. The “Remote Parking” label you might see on third-party tools usually just means off-airport or long-walk options, not a dedicated LIH-operated remote lot.

The on-airport daily rate posts at about $10 per day, which often undercuts resort and hotel self-parking that can run $20–$40 per night in Lihue and around Nawiliwili Harbor. If you’re comparing costs, factor in at least two rideshare trips at around $15–$25 each way if you park at a hotel instead of using the airport lot.

Some mapping tools show a “remote” option about 1 mile from the terminal, translating to roughly a 15-minute walk along the airport access roads. That stretch has limited shade, tropical sun, and occasional rain squalls, so it’s not great with checked bags, strollers, or in midday heat. There is no official airport shuttle circulating from any separate 1‑mile lot.

Regulars on Kauai forums sometimes pair long trips with stay-and-park hotel deals in Lihue or near Nawiliwili Harbor, then use included hotel shuttles or a short 10–15 minute taxi or rideshare to LIH. This workaround mainly shows up on trips of a week or more when resort parking is already part of the budget and airport parking at $10 per day would stack up.

Practical tip: If a third-party site sells “remote” LIH parking, confirm directly that there is an actual staffed lot, stated daily rate, and transport to the terminal; otherwise, plan on the main public lot by Mokulele Loop and budget a few extra minutes to walk from the farthest rows.
