Halloumi wrap at T2’s Leon beats another sad plane sandwich

This Leon sits airside in Heathrow Terminal T2, so it works for Star Alliance and select SkyTeam departures from the “Queen’s Terminal.” It runs as a fast-casual counter with takeaway bags and some eat-in tables, and it leans healthier than most airport options, with lots of veg-heavy boxes and wraps instead of deep-fried everything.

Menu basics: you’ll see things like grilled halloumi wraps, chicken or vegan rice boxes, baked fries, and breakfast pots, all set up for quick assembly. Portions land in the £7–£12 range for mains at other UK Leons, and Heathrow pricing tracks slightly higher, so budget low teens for a box with a drink. Figure 5–10 minutes from ordering to food in hand outside peak morning and evening banks.

The in-flight picnic angle is real: everything comes in lidded cardboard or paper wraps that stack easily in a backpack. Cold items like mezze-style salads and wraps hold up well on a two–three hour flight out of T2. Hot rice boxes start to steam up after about 45 minutes, so eat those in the gate area rather than saving them for cruise altitude.

Breakfast usually means egg pots, porridge, and coffee rather than greasy fry-ups, and that matters if you’re boarding a 09:00 Lufthansa or United departure from T2 and don’t want to feel wrecked by Frankfurt. Coffee is standard barista-style espresso drinks; expect airport pricing around £3–£4 for a flat white or latte.

No major horror stories float around yet: queues move faster than the bigger sit‑down spots in T2, and food tends to arrive warm rather than lukewarm. The main risk is peak bank crowding for the 06:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00 waves, when lines can push past 10 minutes.

Practical tip: if your long-haul from T2 boards in under 30 minutes, skip a rice box and grab a wrap or salad so you can hit your gate without watching the “Final Call” board like a hawk.
