T2’s Jones the Grocer is your sit-down café option

In Heathrow Terminal T2, Jones the Grocer fills the gap between grab-and-go kiosks and full-service restaurants with a casual café setup. It sits airside after security in the main departures area, so you don’t need to leave the gate zone once you’re through. Signage for “Jones the Grocer” in T2 is clear from the central shopping area; if you hit the big duty-free in departures, you’re close.

This spot leans on café staples: brewed coffee, espresso drinks, pastries, and simple sit-down plates. Expect pricing in line with other Heathrow T2 casual dining restaurants, with coffee typically above £3 and light meals landing in the low double digits. The menu usually covers family-friendly standards like sandwiches, burgers, and salads, so kids can share from the mains instead of needing a separate stop.

Seating is standard open-air airport style, looking onto the T2 concourse rather than a separate enclosed room. Tables tend to turn faster around common bank times for Star Alliance departures, roughly 06:00–09:00 and 16:00–19:00, so plan a little extra time if you want a proper sit-down meal. If your flight leaves from one of the more distant T2B gates, allow at least 15–20 minutes to walk back once you’ve finished eating.

Jones the Grocer runs as a casual dining and coffeehouse hybrid, so it works for a quick espresso and pastry or a simple pre-flight meal. You can usually get food to go if you’d rather eat at your gate; just ask for takeaway packaging when you order your sandwich or cake. Card payment is standard, and contactless works across the till units, which helps when you’re burning through the last pounds on a Revolut or Monzo card.

Practical tip: eat here first, then shop; from T2’s central Jones the Grocer, you can still reach most mainline gates in about 10–15 minutes at a relaxed walk.
