Hawaiian beef chili bowls and sangria at Giraffe’s T5 sibling

Heathrow’s Giraffe in T5 is the sister brand to Wondertree by Giraffe in T2, which is known for things like a Hawaiian Beef Chili Bowl, Mexican breakfast plates, smoothies, shakes, and sangria. Expect a similar “global comfort food” style here in Terminal 5, skewing more toward family-friendly sit-down meals than grab-and-go sandwiches. It’s post-security, so you’re fine to settle in with menus and table service before heading to BA gates.

T5 Giraffe runs as a casual restaurant with burgers, all-day breakfast-style dishes, and kid-leaning options at mid-range airport prices; think mains in the £12–£18 band and soft drinks around £3–£4. The menu in T2 shows they lean into international twists, so you’re more likely to see things like chili bowls or Mexican-inspired eggs than a plain fry-up-only list. It’s one of the few spots in T5 where a family can sit together at a normal table instead of balancing trays in the gate area.

Based on the T2 Wondertree menu, better bets here are the “global” plates: anything labeled chili, burrito, or loaded bowl usually lands more flavor than the basic burger. Shakes and smoothies also draw comments at the sister site, so treat them as the safer dessert move than generic cake from a display fridge. If their bar mirrors T2, you’ll see sangria and simple cocktails, not an encyclopedic spirits range.

There aren’t consistent complaint themes from Heathrow regulars, but it’s still an airport chain, so build in 45–60 minutes from sit-down to paid check if your gate is at the far end of T5’s A-gates. Service tends to slow when multiple long-haul departures bunch up. Tip: ask for the bill as soon as you order your last round so you can walk the length of T5 without clock-watching.
