T5’s Galleries First Lounge sits on the South side near the BA Concorde Room
This is British Airways’ main First-class lounge in Terminal 5, used by BA First passengers and oneworld Emeralds flying out of T5. It sits airside in the South lounges complex above the main departures level, reached via the escalators or lifts near the A-gates shopping area. If your flight leaves from a T5C gate, build at least a 15–20 minute walk plus transit time into your plan.
Access is restricted to BA First Class tickets, BA Gold, and oneworld Emerald members on same-day departures from T5; there is no paid day pass option here. You clear security first in T5, then follow signs to “Galleries First” on the South side. If you’re connecting through Heathrow, remember T5 flight connections security can easily eat 30–40 minutes in peak morning banks.
The lounge usually opens early in the morning to catch the first wave of departures and runs until the late-night long-haul bank; exact hours track the T5 schedule, so assume roughly 05:00 until the final BA departures around 22:30–23:00. If you land from a long-haul overnight into T5 around 06:00, you can normally get a shower here before heading into London, as long as you arrived in BA First or hold oneworld Emerald status.
Food runs buffet-style with hot dishes at breakfast and then a self-serve spread during the day. Pricing is baked into your ticket; there’s no pay-per-dish menu like you’ll find in some paid lounges. Champagne and decent spirits are self-pour, and coffee machines back up the manned bar area, which usually has at least one UK craft beer alongside the standard lagers. Snacks and light bites stay out through the mid-afternoon lull.
Showers sit in a separate area shared with other T5 lounges; you normally put your name down at the spa-style desk, then wait for a room. In the early morning, waits of 15–30 minutes are common on busy long-haul arrival days, even for First and status guests. Power outlets can be awkwardly spaced, so if your seat cluster only has one UK socket, grab it before you head to the buffet.
Most seating is in open-plan zones running along the windows, with views over T5’s A-gates and BA narrowbodies parked on stands. If your flight leaves from a B- or C-gate, the flight boards in the lounge’s central screen area usually show the satellite around 40 minutes before departure, so don’t wait for “final call” before heading to the transit train.
Practical tip: if you want a quieter corner in Galleries First at T5, walk past the main bar and food area toward the far window sections; those zones, furthest from the entrance and the central buffet, tend to fill last even during the morning rush between 07:00 and 09:00.
