Gate-side alternative to fast food in Terminal B
In Leipzig/Halle’s Terminal B landside, Marché Restaurant runs daily from 10:00 to 17:00, so it mainly catches late-morning departures and mid-afternoon returns. It sits before security, useful if you’re meeting someone or killing time ahead of check-in. Signage just calls it “Marché Restaurant,” but the menu leans Italian with pizza, pasta, and salad as the main draw.
Prices sit in the mid-range ($$) for a German airport: expect roughly 10–14 € for a pizza, 9–13 € for most pastas, and salads in the same band depending on toppings. Portions usually cover a full meal, so one main works fine without starters. You order at the counter, pay, then grab a seat in the open dining area facing Terminal B’s general hall.
Pizza is the safest bet here, especially the basic margherita or salami versions, which come out with a thin base and cook relatively fast compared to the pasta line. Pasta dishes rotate but often include a tomato-based option and a cream-based option; ask what’s ready or nearly ready if your flight boards in under 45 minutes. Salads suit lighter eaters but can end up close in price to a pizza once you add extras.
Since Marché sits landside, you need to clear security in Zentralterminal or B after eating, which at LEJ can still take 15–30 minutes during the lunchtime bank of departures. The 10:00 opening time means this is not a breakfast play; early-morning flights need to look at bakery kiosks instead. Closing at 17:00 also rules it out for most evening departures from Leipzig/Halle.
Practical tip: If your boarding pass shows a Terminal B gate, finish your meal here about 45 minutes before departure so you can clear security without stress and still reach your gate in time.
