Stuck landside in Terminal B? Eckert covers the basics.
Gate hunt still ahead and security not yet done? Eckert – Presse, Tabak, Lotto, Post sits landside in Terminal B, open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. It runs as a straight newsstand and convenience spot, so think newspapers, magazines, snacks, soft drinks, cigarettes, and lottery tickets, not hot meals or seating.
This is one of the few places in the Zentralterminal/B landside area where you can still grab German and international press along with tobacco in one stop. Prices sit in the airport “$” tier: bottled drinks and basic snacks come in a bit higher than city supermarkets, but still under what you’ll pay at many duty-free fridges after security.
The “Post” in the name actually means services: you can handle simple postal tasks here before security, useful if you need to drop a letter or postcard before a flight out of Leipzig/Halle. Lottery tickets and scratch cards are sold at the same counter, so expect short queues around 17:00–18:00 as locals pass through to play Lotto on their way home.
Stock skews toward grab-and-go: packaged sweets, chocolate bars, chips, gum, plus a rotating rack of magazines and daily papers. You will not find fresh sandwiches or salads here; if you want real food, hit another spot in the Zentralterminal before heading to the B security check. Cigarettes and tobacco products are behind the counter, with standard German pricing and ID control.
Quick run-down: Terminal B landside location, daily 10:00–18:00 hours, “$” pricing, and no seating means it works best as a last-minute stop on your way to security. Tip: if your flight leaves before 11:00 or after 18:30, buy water and snacks in town, since Eckert’s opening times will not cover early-morning or late-night departures.
