Near T1 departures, Dufry is the main duty free stop
Right after security in Terminal 1, Dufry runs the standard walk-through duty free before you hit the main departures hall. You pass it on the way to most international gates, so it’s an easy lap even on a 40–50 minute wait before boarding.
Alcohol, cigarettes, perfume, and cosmetics dominate the front of the store, with liquor in the 8–25 KWD range and cartons of cigarettes stacked in promo bundles. Fragrance counters skew to the big global brands, often with 2-for deals that actually beat downtown Kuwait City prices by a few dinars.
Toward the middle you get the usual travel retail snacks: tins of chocolates, 400–500 g biscuit boxes, and gift packs that work for last-minute presents. Expect standard duty free markups on “premium” packaging; regular-size chocolate bars are better value than the oversized souvenir boxes.
Electronics and accessories sit toward the back wall with headphones, power banks, and basic cables. Prices on name-brand earbuds can run 10–20% higher than Amazon, but a generic USB-C cable will usually sit around 3–4 KWD. Don’t count on niche gear; this is more emergency replacement than gadget hunt.
Figure 10–15 minutes for a focused pass through Dufry in T1; if you’re tight on time, walk straight down the center aisle to liquor and tobacco first, then loop left for snacks on your way out toward the gates.
