Cintamani

Cintamani carries real-deal Icelandic outdoor gear in Terminal 1

This shop sits airside in KEF Terminal 1, on the Schengen side, and focuses almost entirely on Iceland-grade outdoor clothing and accessories. Cintamani is an Icelandic brand, so you’re buying locally designed pieces that actually get tested in Reykjavík weather. Expect higher prices than generic travel shops, but still below what you’d pay for similar performance gear from big US or EU brands downtown.

You’ll see technical shells, insulated jackets, hats, gloves, and base layers on the racks, all aimed at cold, wet, and windy conditions that routinely hit 0–5°C in Iceland shoulder seasons. Sizes run from XS to XXL in most jackets. Staff usually speak Icelandic and English, and they know the difference between something that works for a quick Blue Lagoon stop and something that holds up on a glacier hike.

Pricing runs in the 10.000–80.000 ISK range, with beanies and gloves at the low end and full winter parkas at the top. Tax-free paperwork is available if you’re departing the Schengen area from KEF the same day, which can knock a noticeable chunk off a 40.000 ISK jacket. Card payments only are common at KEF, and Cintamani is no exception, so don’t count on paying cash.

If you land in KEF underdressed for wind or rain before a tour out of Reykjavík, this is a last-chance fix before boarding your next leg. Build 10–15 extra minutes into your walk to the gate if you plan to try on jackets; the fitting rooms can queue up during morning bank departures around 07:00–09:00.
