Airport Limousine 6001

Bus

Bus 70-100 min (ICN–central Seoul, traffic dependent) $9-11

70–100 minutes from ICN to Jongno/Dongdaemun without stairs

Airport Limousine 6001 runs from ICN T1 and T2 to central and north-central Seoul, hitting Dongdaemun, Jongno, Jonggak, and City Hall for about $9–11 one way. Figure 70–100 minutes depending on traffic and where you get off along the route. Buses generally run every 20–30 minutes from early morning to late evening, but post-pandemic schedules shift, so treat those intervals as a ballpark, not a promise.

You buy tickets at the Airport Limousine counters near Arrivals at T1 and T2, usually before you exit to the curb; staff often circle or write your hotel or nearest stop on the ticket so you can just show it to the driver. That trick helps a lot if your Korean is limited and you’re trying to hit a specific stop near Jongno 3-ga or City Hall after a 13-hour flight. Hold onto the paper ticket until you’re off the bus; drivers do sometimes check again mid-route.

Onboard, seats are assigned by ticket row, bags go under the bus, and ride time into the city center runs roughly 60–80 minutes in light traffic plus another 20–30 minutes for inner-city stops. Travelers say the downtown portion feels slow because 6001 makes several stops around Jongno, Jonggak, and nearby streets before turning back. A few riders mention buses being fairly full in late afternoon and evening, so don’t count on an empty adjacent seat for spreading out.

Traffic is the main pain point: Reddit users report runs stretching to nearly two hours on bad days, especially hitting Jongno on a Friday around 18:00–20:00. Many Seoul regulars still take 6001 inbound to hotels near Dongdaemun or Jongno because it drops them within a block or two, then switch to AREX plus subway outbound once they’re rested and know the transfers at Seoul Station. If you’re landing near the start of rush hour, budget another 30 minutes on top of the posted 70–100 minutes.

How to ride Airport Limousine 6001 step by step

  • 1. Find the ticket counter. After exiting customs at T1 or T2, follow the “Bus” signs to the Airport Limousine counters; expect prices around $9–11 (about 12,000–15,000 KRW) for 6001.
  • 2. Buy your ticket and confirm your stop. Tell the agent your hotel name or nearest station (for example, Jongno 3-ga or Dongdaemun); they often mark the stop or hotel name directly on the ticket so the driver knows where to drop you.
  • 3. Go to the correct bus stop outside. Check the bay number printed on the ticket for 6001 at T1 or T2 and head to that numbered stop on the curb; posted boards show “6001” with its list of major stops.
  • 4. Load bags underneath and board by seat number. When the 6001 pulls in, put checked-size bags in the luggage compartment, then board and sit in your assigned seat row printed on the ticket; drivers sometimes re-check tickets as you get on.
  • 5. Track your progress with GPS. Regulars load their hotel into Kakao Map or Naver Map and watch the blue dot as the bus passes Dongdaemun and into Jongno; press the stop button when you are one or two stops before your marked destination.
  • 6. Get off, grab bags, and clear the sidewalk quickly. When your stop name shows on the interior screen or matches your map, step off, collect luggage from the side compartment, and move away from the bus so it can pull out for the next stop.

One last tip: on Fridays 17:00–21:00, locals often skip 6001 and take AREX plus subway instead, so if you still pick the bus during that window, pad your schedule by at least 30 minutes.
