Duty Free Store

main

Most locals hit supermarkets first; this Duty Free is the backup.

The Duty Free Store in T1’s main airside zone sits right after security, on the walk to the gates, and regulars treat it as a last-stop booze and cigarette run. Size is modest for a leisure airport, closer to a single supermarket aisle than a big hub shop, with shelves dominated by spirits, wine, tobacco and a few rows of perfume and cosmetics.

Expect standard Spanish duty free pricing on spirits and cigarettes, but reviews say it’s “nothing special vs UK supermarket offers,” so big bargains are unlikely. One Skytrax reviewer mentioned grabbing “a couple of bottles of spirits and perfume quickly” because there wasn’t much else worth browsing. If you want local products or quirky souvenirs under €20, you’ll find only a token shelf or two.

What regulars do: they buy liquor and local brands in town supermarkets like Eroski or Mercadona, then use this Duty Free only for a quick top-up if there’s spare cash. Forum posters specifically say to treat airport shopping as plan B, not the main source for stocking up on San Miguel, Hierbas Ibicencas, or carton-level tobacco.

Watch out for crowding in July–August. Skytrax reviews call the terminal compact with “few concessions,” so queues can spill into the walkways, making it awkward to browse around families and party groups. If your boarding pass shows a Schengen departure from gates in the low teens, give yourself at least 10–15 minutes buffer to clear any line and still walk to your gate.

Quick tip: do your real shopping in town, then use this Duty Free for a last check on tobacco allowances and one more bottle if your bag weight and limits allow.
