Late-night caffeine in Terminal 1 when everything else is dark

Costa Coffee in Terminal 1 ends up as the default stop when your 02:30 departure lines up with a mostly shut airport. Multiple reports mention nights where only Costa and Burger King stay open, so expect company if several flights push out around the same time. It sits airside in T1, so you’ll already be through security before you find it.

This is closer to a basic kiosk than a full UK high-street Costa. Travellers mention standard espresso drinks, americanos and cappuccinos at prices roughly in line with other European airports, not with Hurghada town cafés. The food side is thin: think a couple of pre-made sandwiches and a tray or two of pastries rather than a full hot menu.

Don’t bank on real food here before a 4–5 hour flight. Multiple Facebook and TripAdvisor posts say there’s coffee and “a couple of sad pastries,” with no hot items and very limited restocking late at night. Several reviewers explicitly warn against arriving hungry and expecting a full snack or meal at Costa.

Service pace swings with the departure board. When two or three flights out of T1 board within 60 minutes, people report frustratingly slow queues as one or two staff work both machine and till. At quieter times, you’re in and out in under 5 minutes with a latte or bottled water.

Regulars heading to HRG a few times a year say they eat at their resort or in Hurghada city and treat Costa as a drinks-only stop. Others bring their own crisps, nuts or biscuits and just buy a single drink here so they can use the seating as a waiting area for 60–90 minutes.

Tip: if you have time, grab a proper meal in town and treat Costa in Terminal 1 as backup coffee and water, not your last chance at real food.
