One small barista counter in T2 ends up as the gate lounge
Barista Cafe in Terminal 2 feels more like a kiosk than a full café, and many passengers treat its few tables as extra waiting area for nearby gates. It sits airside after security in T2, so this is the last coffee stop before boarding for several charter and regional flights. Expect a basic setup: a short counter, a couple of high stools, and a handful of small tables that fill fast when a flight is delayed.
Opening hours track flight banks, so it’s usually running from early-morning departures through late-night charters, roughly 06:00 to 23:00. The menu sticks to drinks and snacks: machine cappuccinos, simple black coffee, bottled soft drinks, and pre-packaged cakes and pastries. Reviews mention prices running higher than Hurghada city cafés, with a coffee and a slice of cake easily landing in the 150–200 EGP range.
This is not a meal stop in Terminal 2: travellers report no real hot food options, just wrapped cakes and maybe a packaged sandwich if you are lucky. One Facebook poster called out “instant cake and cappuccino” at premium pricing, similar to the complaints about cafés in Terminal 1. If you want something more substantial than sugar and caffeine, buy it in town or in the landside area before heading through security.
What regulars do: frequent HRG flyers often bring their own snacks and just buy one drink, mainly to claim a chair within sight of the gate. Others stay in the main terminal hall until boarding is announced, then walk down to Barista Cafe’s area at the last minute to avoid the cramped seating and noise. Power outlets are scarce and some travellers report no working Wi‑Fi, so don’t plan on charging a laptop or streaming a movie here.
Tip: pick up water and any real food before security in T2, then use Barista Cafe only as a backup for a quick coffee and somewhere to sit within a few meters of your gate.
