JAL domestic flyers hit Blue Sky Dining in T2 for quick set meals before boarding.
Blue Sky Dining sits airside in Terminal 2, on the JAL domestic side, and runs on the same “Blue Sky” brand you see on the airline’s snack shops. It’s a basic diner setup, not a lounge, and works best if your gate is nearby in T2. Figure midrange pricing: main dishes land in the ¥1,000–¥1,500 range, so this is a proper meal stop, not just a coffee grab.
The menu leans Japanese: think rice bowls, curry rice, and noodle plates rather than burgers. Portions run medium, closer to standard Tokyo lunch size than US airport piles, so one main is usually enough if you ate earlier in the day. A typical order is a curry or donburi bowl with a soft drink, which pushes the bill into the ¥1,300–¥1,800 bracket. Quality tracks with its 3-star reputation: fine, filling, nothing you’ll remember next week.
Blue Sky Dining is useful on tight domestic JAL turns because it sits close to boarding areas in T2. You can usually get in and out in about 25–35 minutes outside of true rush peaks around the 08:00–09:00 and 18:00–19:00 banks. Staff move food quickly; it’s seat, order, eat, go. It beats patching together dinner from chips and bottled tea, which is what a lot of people end up doing from the nearby Blue Sky retail counters.
Watch out for the value equation: reviews call out that prices feel high for what you get, especially if you’re staring at a simple curry plate over ¥1,200. There’s also no big signature dish that justifies going out of your way from the far end of T2. If your flight leaves from a distant gate, you’ll want at least 15 minutes of walking time back.
Tip: check your exact T2 gate on the JAL app before sitting down, then set a timer for 25 minutes so you don’t cut it close at boarding.
