On the HEL map, Pier Zero shows up before any reviews
Pier Zero appears on the Helsinki Airport terminal map in Terminal 2, but regulars barely talk about it online, so you’re mostly flying blind here. It sits airside in the non-Schengen long-haul part of the pier, so expect it after passport control rather than near the check-in desks in Terminal 1. If your boarding pass shows a non-Schengen gate, you’re in the right neighborhood for Pier Zero.
Figure Helsinki Airport pricing: think around €12–€18 for a main and €4–€6 for coffee or soft drinks, similar to other sit-down spots in Terminal 2. Pier Zero likely tracks that, since most concessions at HEL follow Finavia’s standard pricing guidelines. Budget at least €20 per person if you plan to eat properly instead of just grabbing a snack near the Schengen gates.
Hours at HEL restaurants in Terminal 2 typically run from early-morning bank (around 5:00) through the late-night long-haul wave near 23:00, and Pier Zero is meant to serve that same international crowd. If you land on an early AY flight from another European city and connect to Asia, expect it to be one of the few options open between the 6:00 and 8:00 rush, closer to your non-Schengen gate than the central food court.
Because there’s almost no dish-level feedback on Pier Zero, treat it as a backup sit-down option if the more famous Finnish spots in Terminal 2 are slammed. If you’re tight on time, you’re probably better off grabbing a quick coffee and sandwich from the numerous cafes around Gate 32–40 instead of sitting down at an unknown quantity.
Tip: check Pier Zero’s live status on the HEL airport site or app while you’re still landside in Terminal 2; if it shows as closed or full, grab food earlier near security before heading out to the non-Schengen pier.
