3 Wire Bar and Grill

Real grill, real bar, actually past security

3 Wire Bar and Grill sits airside at Yampa Valley Airport (HDN), one of the few places after TSA where you can sit down, order a cooked burger, and get a proper drink instead of raiding a cold case. It’s in the small departures area near the main gates, so you’re never more than a 2–3 minute walk from boarding.

The menu leans classic bar food: burgers, fries, wings, and sandwiches, with mains generally in the $15–$22 range. If you want an actual hot meal before a United, Delta, or American departure, this is basically your only shot once you’ve cleared security. Portions run ski-town big, so a single burger and side often feeds one hungry adult without needing extras.

The “full bar” piece is real: expect draft or canned beer, simple cocktails, and house wine by the glass, usually in the $8–$14 band depending on what you order. It’s the spot people hit for a beer after a day at Steamboat before the last bank of evening flights around 4–7 p.m. Ask what’s local on tap if you care about Colorado brews.

Service speed flexes with the flight waves; when two or three HDN departures stack up, a burger can take 20–30 minutes from order to table. Earlier in the day or between banks, food can land in 10–15. If your boarding time is inside 40 minutes, stick to something faster like wings or a sandwich and confirm with your server.

Tip: HDN’s gate area is compact, so grab a table at 3 Wire, order, and keep an eye on the single main departures screen; you’re close enough to walk to any gate in under three minutes once they call your group.
