Type 2 and CCS plugs right next to the terminal doors

EV Charging Stations at Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport sit directly next to the terminal buildings, so you roll out of the car park and you’re at T1 or T2 in a couple of minutes on foot. This is on-airport parking, not a remote lot, which cuts transfer time to almost zero and makes early departures less stressful.

Stalls use standard European Type 2 and CCS connectors, so most modern EVs charge without adapters; older CHAdeMO-only cars may need a plan B. Power levels differ by post, so expect anything from slower AC to faster DC units, and factor that into how long you want to leave the car before or after your flight.

The EV bays sit in the regular terminal-side parking area, so you pay normal airport parking rates rather than a separate charging tariff; check the current euro day rate on the HAM website before you book longer trips. Staying several days quickly adds up at on-terminal prices, but you gain the benefit of being able to precondition and leave with a healthier state of charge.

Stations are open 24/7 in line with terminal operations, which helps for the 06:00 departures and after-22:00 arrivals that Hamburg runs. You plug in, lock up, and walk straight into T1 or T2 check-in in roughly 3–5 minutes depending on your airline and gate.

One practical tip: arrive at least 20–30 minutes earlier than you normally would so you have time to hunt an open EV bay, plug in properly, confirm the session has started on the charger screen, and still hit security with a buffer.
