Free drinks, cookies and Wi‑Fi sum up this HAJ lounge

The Lufthansa Business Lounge in Terminal A sits airside near Gate A6 and runs from 05:00 to catch the first Schengen departures. It’s a small outstation setup, more about a quiet seat and power for your laptop than a long pre-flight meal. Expect simple self-service counters, windows over the apron, and standard Lufthansa decor rather than anything fancy.

Access is in Terminal A after security, a short walk from the A-gates cluster around A6. Staff here have a reputation for strictly checking Star Alliance status and same-day boarding passes, especially for non-LH elites trying their luck, so don’t bank on exceptions. There’s no public day-pass pricing listed and Amex Platinum only lists it as a partner lounge, not pay-per-use.

Food is basic but better than the pure snacks you get in the Karl Jatho Lounge: a small buffet with cold items and usually one hot dish shown in recent reviews. You’ll see cookies, biscuits and nuts as staples, with light sandwiches or salads appearing in the busier morning wave after 05:00. Treat it as a top-up before or after breakfast, not a full dinner stop.

Drinks are where the value is: free soft drinks from fridges, coffee machines for espresso and cappuccino, plus standard beer and a couple of spirits bottles on the counter. There’s no bar staff, just self-pour, so you can be in and out in 10 minutes if your flight from Gate A6 is already boarding. Glassware is proper, not plastic, which is a small step up from the terminal seating areas.

Space is limited and FlyerTalk regulars call it “quite small,” with seats filling in the 06:00–08:00 and late-afternoon banks. Outside those peaks, a daytime review noted the lounge wasn’t crowded, making it decent for an hour of email on the free Wi‑Fi. Power outlets sit along the walls and near the work tables, but you may need to hunt for a free socket when several flights to FRA and MUC are delayed.

Most frequent flyers here treat it as a 30–45 minute stop: grab a coffee, a beer, some cookies and clear your inbox before boarding at the nearby A-gates. Tip: if you land into Terminal B or C and depart from A, budget at least 10–15 minutes to walk over and clear security so you still get a meaningful lounge stop before the 05:00–09:00 morning rush hits.
