Gate 6 in Central Terminal is the easiest landmark for Duty Free Americas at GUA.
This shop sits airside in the Central terminal, after security and passport control, near gates 5–8. It’s your main duty free option in La Aurora, so if you want tax-free liquor, perfume, or chocolate, this is the stop before boarding. Most shelves carry global brands you’ll recognize plus some Guatemalan rum labels like Ron Zacapa and Botran.
Alcohol prices usually run a few dollars under downtown shops, with common 1L bottles of whisky or vodka often around USD 18–25. Fragrance lines from major houses sit in the mid-range duty free bracket, not ultra-luxury. Tobacco cartons are stocked behind the counter at typical Central American duty free pricing, so have your ID ready and know your home country allowance.
Layout is straightforward: single main aisle, self-service shelves, and a central cashier desk. You enter right after the passport check funnel and exit out toward the main departures seating area. Expect it to feel tight if two widebody flights board at the same time, especially for evening departures between 18:00 and 21:00.
Watch your time; the shop sits only about a 2–3 minute walk from most Central terminal gates, but lines at the register can eat 10 minutes when multiple flights to the US and Mexico board. One tip: if you’re picking up rum, grab it first thing after security, then walk to your gate. You can always circle back for snacks, but liquor does sell out close to late-night departures.
