Gate-side duty free in T1, right after security
Just past security in Terminal T1, the Duty Free Shop is the main place at Graz Airport to grab last‑minute liquor, perfume and chocolate before boarding. It sits on the direct path from screening to the T1 gates, so you literally walk through it on the way to departures. The store is airside only, so you can’t access it on arrival from Schengen flights.
Hours track the day’s first and last departures, roughly 2 hours before the first T1 flight until the final evening departure. Stock leans heavily on European spirits and Austrian brands, with standard 1‑liter bottles of whisky and vodka, premium gin, and regional wines from Styria. Pricing is typical small-airport duty free: spirits can be a few euros higher than Vienna (VIE), but still under downtown retail for some labels.
Tobacco, basic cosmetics, and perfume take up most of the middle shelves, with travel-sized skincare and sets near the tills. Chocolate is mostly big-brand: think Ritter Sport, Milka, Lindt, and souvenir-style Mozartkugeln boxes in the 250–500 g range. You’ll also find a limited rack of snacks and gummy candy you can take straight to the gate, useful if your flight leaves from a bus gate at the far end of T1.
Selection is small compared with larger hubs, and you won’t find rare or limited-release bottles; it’s core duty free range only. Lines stay short, and staff usually process a purchase in under 3 minutes, even at morning peak around the 06:00–08:00 departures. Bring your boarding pass in hand at checkout; they always scan it, and fumbling for it is what actually slows the queue.
