CPTM Line 13-Jade

Train

Train 30-35 min

Trains on CPTM Line 13-Jade reach Luz station in about 35 minutes from GRU

CPTM Line 13-Jade is the suburban train line linking São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport to the city’s rail network, running between GRU and Luz/Engenheiro Goulart stations in roughly 30–35 minutes. Trains operate throughout the day and connect into the broader CPTM and Metrô system, so you can change at stations like Brás or Tatuapé for more central lines.

The airport station sits next to Terminal 1, with free GRU shuttle buses linking Terminals 2 and 3 in about 10–15 minutes. Factor that transfer into your timing if you land at T2 or T3, especially in peak hours when the terminal shuttles can fill quickly. Signs inside the terminals point to the “Trem”/“CPTM” buses; follow those rather than generic ground transport boards.

Line 13-Jade trains usually run every 15–30 minutes, depending on time of day and whether you catch the regular stopping service or a semi-direct one. If you just miss a train late at night, assume you may wait close to the upper end of that 30-minute window. Most services now run directly to central nodes such as Luz, but check the onboard screens for the final destination before you sit down.

Tickets for Line 13-Jade use the same fare system as the rest of CPTM and São Paulo Metrô, with a single ride priced in line with the city standard (expect a low double-digit value in BRL). You can buy paper tickets from the station ticket office or machines, or tap in with contactless cards that support the local system. Keep the ticket handy until you fully exit the network at your final station.

For city connections, Luz, Brás, and Tatuapé are the key interchange points, linking you to Metrô Lines 1, 2, and 3 in about 5–10 minutes of walking and transfers inside each station. Luz is better if you’re heading toward central or north zones, while Brás and Tatuapé help for Avenida Paulista and eastern districts via Line 3. Avoid changing in the busiest sections around 18:00–19:30 if you have heavy bags.

Service typically starts early in the morning and runs until late evening, with exact first and last train times posted on station boards and the CPTM website. Overnight, when trains stop, taxis and app cars from Terminals 2 and 3 usually quote higher fares, so check the clock before committing to the train. If you land after the last departure, don’t walk toward Terminal 1 expecting trains to still be running.

Practical tip: with a 30–35 minute rail run plus up to 20 minutes for the terminal shuttle and buying tickets, assume at least one full hour from baggage claim at GRU to first metro platform in the city.
