McGill's 600

Bus ו

Route 600 hits Paisley first, not Glasgow city centre

McGill's 600 runs between Glasgow Airport and Clydebank, mainly serving local suburbs like Paisley, Renfrew and Braehead rather than Glasgow Queen Street or Buchanan Bus Station. The stop at the airport sits right outside Terminal 1 arrivals, next to the other local bus stands, so you do not need to enter Terminal 2 to board.

The 600 typically runs every 30 minutes during daytime on weekdays, with reduced frequency in late evenings and on Sundays after about 20:00. This makes it workable for airport staff on early or late shifts, and for residents in places like Renfrew or Clydebank catching specific departures from Terminal 1. Always check the current McGill's timetable on the day, as first and last buses shift slightly with season and weekday.

A single ticket on McGill's 600 is usually a few pounds per adult, cheaper than the Glasgow Airport Express 500 which targets city-centre traffic. You pay the driver on boarding using contactless card, cash in GBP, or the McGill's app, so have a bank card or small notes ready at the curb outside Terminal 1. Kids pay a reduced child fare, and returns are sometimes only marginally more than singles on this route.

The 600 stops at Paisley Gilmour Street station, roughly 10 minutes from the airport, which gives you a rail link into Glasgow Central in about another 10 minutes. This two-step route (600 bus plus ScotRail train) can still beat driving in rush-hour on the M8, especially if you are coming off a flight in Terminal 1 around 17:00. It also lets you bail out early at Paisley if you live west of the city.

Route 600 also serves Braehead Shopping Centre and Clydebank bus station, useful if you work retail or live near those hubs rather than in Glasgow city centre. Staff finishing late shifts after 21:00 often use the airport–Braehead section to dodge taxi costs of £20–£30. Just check that your last 600 of the day lines up with store or shift closing times so you are not stranded at Terminal 1.

One practical tip: if you actually need central Glasgow, skip the 600 and take the Glasgow Airport Express 500 or the regular bus-to-Paisley-train combo instead, because the 600 path through suburbs adds extra stops and time that do not help with a tight arrival at Queen Street or Central.
