Gate-side pub in Terminal 1 with early pints and fry-ups
The Sanderling sits airside in Glasgow Airport’s Terminal 1, a short walk from the main domestic gates, and runs from early morning through the last evening departures. It’s part traditional pub, part café, with full Scottish breakfasts, burgers, and pies alongside pints, spirits, and coffee. You order and pay at the bar, then food comes to the table, which speeds things up when the 07:00 departures are boarding.
On the food side, think airport pub standards at mid-range prices: a cooked breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, and toast usually lands in the £10–£13 range, while burgers and mains often sit between £12 and £18. Portions tend to be generous enough that sharing sides like chips or onion rings works for two. Vegetarian options exist, but not many; expect maybe one veggie breakfast and a meat-free burger on the printed menu.
Drinks are the main draw for a lot of passengers on early EasyJet and Ryanair flights from T1, with draught beer, bottled cider, wine by the glass, and the usual airport G&T. A pint often comes in around £6–£7, and spirits get served as 25ml or 50ml measures in line with UK rules. Coffee and tea are there if you just want a quick heat-up before a 06:30 boarding call.
Seats fill fast in the 05:30–08:30 morning peak for flights to London, Amsterdam, and holiday routes, so finding a four-top for a family may take a few minutes. Service speed varies with the boarding banks; a hot meal can take 20 minutes when several 08:00 departures stack up, but off-peak mid-afternoon flights see food out in closer to 10 minutes. Table turnover is quick as soon as the nearby gates start boarding.
Tip: if you’ve got a tight sub-45-minute connection within Terminal 1, stick to drinks or a pastry at The Sanderling and skip cooked mains so you’re not sprinting to your gate at final call.
