Kermit's Airport Lounge

Open · 07:00-18:00 $$$$

Five-minute walk from GGT T1, Kermit's is the pre-flight bar

Kermit's Airport Lounge sits just outside Exuma International (GGT) T1, open daily from 07:00–18:00, and works as the de facto airport restaurant before you even see a security line. It’s technically off-terminal, so you can eat here if you’re dropping someone at a 10:00 flight or waiting on a delayed 17:30 departure. Figure an easy walk from the small terminal doors; most people wheel bags over.

Inside, the ceiling is packed with autographed dollar bills, a detail people mention as much as the food. Bahamas.com even calls it out in their writeup, and regulars add their own signed bills after a couple of rounds. There’s a full bar pouring local Sands and Kalik, plus standard mixed drinks that reviewers describe as “strong.” TVs behind the bar loop sports while flights cycle through the departure board.

Menu sweet spot: the BBQ chicken with peas and rice, usually landing with sides like beets and salad on a plate big enough for two. Price tier sits around $$–$$$, but portions are huge, so splitting mains keeps a pre-flight bill closer to one entree and two beers than two full dinners. Expect other Bahamian comfort dishes in the same range, with takeout boxes if you want to carry food into T1.

Service runs on island time, and reviews call out lags when multiple flights leave between about 14:00 and 17:00. With GGT’s limited other options, that can sting if you cut it close. Build at least a 60-minute buffer before check-in if you plan to sit, eat, and still walk over, especially on banked afternoon departure waves.

Local pattern: drop a rental at nearby spots like Thompson’s, then walk to Kermit’s for one last plate and a beer before heading into T1. One practical tip: share a main and start your tab with a Sands the moment you sit; that gets you fed, watered, and checked in on time.
