Near gate B13 in T1, this is the “quiet” VIP option.
VIP Lounge West sits on the international side of Terminal 1 near gate B13 and stays open 24 hours a day, every day. Regulars pick it over the East lounge because this side skips the private security circus and trades it for a calmer, more traditional club feel. If you already cleared the standard T1 security, you’re a short walk from the door.
The space itself is large by GDL standards, with reviewers calling it “massive” and mentioning rows of seats with power outlets and working Wi‑Fi. Think big waiting room more than gourmet club: plenty of chairs, tables to set up a laptop, and enough separation to avoid feeling packed in, even at morning and late-night banks of flights out of Terminal 1.
Food is the weak link. Multiple Yelp reviews flat-out call the food “terrible” or very limited, and frequent visitors say they don’t bother with anything beyond basic snacks. Don’t plan your meal around this place; buy something in the Terminal 1 concourse before heading up, or eat on board and treat the lounge as a drink-and-email stop.
Drinks are the better play here. You’ll usually find standard soft drinks, coffee machines, and basic spirits and beer stocked during the full 00:00–23:59 operating window. Nothing fancy, but enough to sit with a cold drink, plug in near a wall socket, and clear out your inbox before a late-night departure from gate B13 or the neighboring B-gates.
Regulars on Yelp say they keep coming back specifically for the space and calm, even after multiple disappointments with the buffet. The routine: eat in Terminal 1, then camp here with Wi‑Fi and a drink until boarding time. Compared with the East lounge and its private security lane, West is the play if you value elbow room over fast-tracking the checkpoint.
Practical tip: clear normal security in Terminal 1 early, grab real food in the concourse, then head to VIP Lounge West near gate B13 and treat it as a quiet office with free drinks rather than a dining room.
