Metered cabs line up outside T1 arrivals at FOR

Airport Taxi runs from the curb just outside the T1 arrivals exit at Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR), with cars queuing 24 hours a day. You’ll see the official taxi stand immediately after you leave baggage claim, about 50 meters straight ahead. Look for white or light-colored sedans with the “Táxi” roof sign and the airport logo on the doors.

Fares run on a meter, with flag-drop around a few reais and per‑kilometer pricing posted on a board at the stand; a ride to Beira Mar usually lands in the 25–40 minute range depending on traffic. You pay the driver directly in Brazilian reais, and many cars accept card, but not all, so have at least R$100 cash on hand. Ask for an estimated price before you get in if you’re nervous about cost.

The taxi rank sits in front of T1 on the ground floor, a 2–3 minute walk from the baggage belts. Staff at the stand can write your destination on a slip in Portuguese, which helps if you’re heading to specific addresses like Avenida Beira Mar or Praia do Futuro. If you land late, count on at least 10–15 minutes from exiting the aircraft to reaching the curb once you factor in the single T1 baggage hall.

Airport Taxi cars usually seat up to 4 passengers with 2–3 checked bags in the trunk, and larger parties can ask the stand attendant to call a bigger vehicle or two separate cars. For reference, rides from FOR to central Fortaleza neighborhoods like Meireles or Aldeota often cover 8–12 km. Tip isn’t mandatory in Brazil, but rounding up a R$55 fare to R$60 is common.

  • Step 1: Exit the secure area in T1 and walk about 50 meters straight ahead to the signed taxi rank.
  • Step 2: Tell the stand attendant your destination (for example, “Beira Mar” or your hotel name); they may note it on a slip.
  • Step 3: Confirm the taxi uses a meter and ask for a rough total for your area (e.g., Meireles or Praia do Futuro).
  • Step 4: Load bags into the trunk, then keep backpacks or valuables in the back seat with you for the 20–40 minute ride.
  • Step 5: On arrival, check the meter, pay in reais or card if available, and ask the driver for a printed receipt (“recibo”) if you need one.

One last tip: screenshot your hotel address in Portuguese with the street number before landing, so you can show it to the taxi stand or driver without relying on mobile data.
