The Tri-Rail Shuttle is the zero-dollar connector between all four FLL terminals (1, 2, 3, 4) and the Fort Lauderdale Airport Tri-Rail station, which then runs up to West Palm Beach and down to Miami. You don’t pay anything for the shuttle; you only pay once you board Tri-Rail itself. Look for airport signs marked “Tri-Rail Shuttle” near ground transportation outside baggage claim.

The shuttle runs in daytime hours, syncing with Tri-Rail’s schedule that typically starts before 6:00 a.m. and winds down around 10:00 p.m. on most days. Exact frequency shifts with the rail timetable, so you’ll usually see a bus within one train window rather than on a fixed 10- or 15-minute pattern. Build at least 20–30 minutes into your plan between terminal curb and the Tri-Rail platform.

Pickup points sit at the lower level outside each terminal’s baggage claim doors, in the same general area as the rental car shuttles and rideshare zones. Terminals 1 and 2 share a stretch of curb, while Terminals 3 and 4 sit a bit farther south along the loop road. If you’re tight on time and landing at Terminal 4, factor in an extra 5 minutes because that side of the loop sometimes stacks up with buses.

On board the shuttle, you ride about 10 minutes between the terminals and the Tri-Rail Fort Lauderdale Airport station, depending on traffic on Eller Drive and I-595 ramps. The shuttle drops you directly at the station bus loop, a short walk—under 200 yards—to the Tri-Rail ticket machines and platforms. You can buy Tri-Rail tickets or load an EASY Card before heading up the stairs or elevator.

Use the shuttle in reverse when arriving on Tri-Rail: trains stop on two tracks, you exit to the station center platform, then follow “Airport Shuttle” signs to the same bus loop for the ride back to Terminals 1–4. If you have an early morning flight, check the first train and shuttle pairing online the night before; don’t assume the first northbound or southbound train matches the first bank of FLL departures.

Practical tip: If you land at FLL with checked bags, add 15 minutes for baggage claim on top of the 20–30 minute shuttle and station buffer before picking a Tri-Rail departure time.
