Schengen-side in T1, Piazza Venezia is ITA’s “standard issue” lounge
Terminal 1 regulars put the ITA Airways Piazza Venezia Lounge in the same bucket as the other new ITA Schengen lounges at FCO: clean, functional, and tied to ITA business and status guests only. You’ll find it after security in Terminal 1, airside for Schengen departures, so it works for most ITA flights to mainland Europe and domestic Italian routes.
Access is straightforward: ITA Airways business-class passengers and ITA (plus SkyTeam Elite Plus when applicable) status holders departing from Terminal 1 get in, while Priority Pass and paid day passes are not available as of 2024. If you’re connecting from a non-Schengen flight in T3, factor in around 20–30 minutes to move to T1 and clear the Schengen checkpoint before heading here.
The space follows the same modern ITA look rolled out across FCO, with neutral seating zones, individual armchairs, and some higher tables for laptop work. Power outlets sit between many seats, and USB ports line some walls, so you can realistically top up a phone and laptop in a 45-minute stop. Lighting is bright enough for emails, but not harsh, and sightlines to the corridor help you keep an eye on boarding times for T1 Schengen gates.
Food runs to light bites rather than a full meal: think snacks, cold options, and simple items that tie to typical Italian bar fare. Expect coffee machines pulling espresso and cappuccino, soft drinks, and basic spirits and wine that match what ITA offers on short-haul flights. If you want a sit-down hot meal, you’re still better off using 15–20 minutes in the public food court areas of Terminal 1 before heading in for a quiet seat.
Showers are not widely referenced here yet, and most reports group Piazza Venezia with the other ITA lounges as a short-stop space instead of a pre-flight spa. Wi‑Fi is free and typically strong enough for video calls under 30 minutes, which suits business travelers squeezing in one last Teams or Zoom before boarding at a nearby Schengen gate.
With no major red flags in recent reviews, the main risk is overestimating what’s on offer for a long layover. Plan to eat in Terminal 1 first, then use Piazza Venezia Lounge as a calm charging and email zone for the final 45–60 minutes before your ITA Schengen flight.
