ITA Airways Hangar Lounge

1

Gate-side buffer near the new Schengen departures in T1

The ITA Airways Hangar Lounge sits in Terminal 1 after security, mainly serving ITA business-class passengers and ITA status holders flying Schengen routes. Think of it as a holding pen near the new gates more than a destination you plan your day around. If your flight leaves from the Terminal 1 Schengen pier, this is the closest ITA lounge option before boarding.

Entry is tied to ITA Airways: you need a same-day ITA business ticket or ITA status linked to your boarding pass in Terminal 1. Other SkyTeam elites often get turned away here, then pointed back toward the main ITA lounge options near the older T1 gates. Build a 10–15 minute buffer if you need to sort out access issues at the desk before a morning departure.

The food setup tends to sit in the “snacks to keep you going” category rather than a full meal before a 13:00 departure. Expect packaged items, light cold options, and basic hot drinks instead of a staffed bar or fresh pasta station. If you want a real sit-down meal, many flyers grab something in the T1 concourse first and treat the Hangar Lounge as a quiet corner to sit and charge devices.

Wi‑Fi runs on the airport network shared across Terminal 1, so speeds depend on the time of day; late-morning bank around 10:00–12:00 can feel sluggish. Power outlets are present but not at every seat, so if your laptop is at 20% on arrival, plug in as soon as you find a free socket. Expect standard airport seating rather than dedicated work pods or true nap chairs.

The Hangar Lounge mainly exists for its location beside the newer Schengen gate area, which cuts walking time before flights to cities like Milan, Paris, and Madrid. If your boarding pass shows a Terminal 3 non‑Schengen gate instead, skip this lounge and head toward T3 early, since walking between T1 and T3 can easily eat 15–20 minutes with a crowd.

Practical tip: Check your exact gate in the ITA app before heading here; if it switches from a Terminal 1 Schengen gate to Terminal 3 within an hour of departure, leave the Hangar Lounge immediately and walk over rather than waiting for a final call announcement.
