AMD 300 gets you from EVN T2 to central Yerevan
For the absolute cheapest ride out of Zvartnots T2, Marshrutka Route 201 is the AMD 300 (about $0.75) minibus that runs airport–city in roughly 30 minutes, traffic permitting. It’s operated by Elitebus and undercuts a typical GG or Yandex ride that runs closer to $7–8 into town.
Route 201 runs every 30 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00, then every 60 minutes from 00:00 to 06:00, so red‑eye arrivals can face up to an hour’s wait. The stop is outside T2 on the arrivals side; look for the small airport–city bus sign rather than expecting a big dedicated bay.
The line runs from the airport through Mashtots Avenue, past Yeritasardakan metro, by Republic Square, and ends on Amiryan Street in central Yerevan. If you know your address, getting off one stop earlier along Mashtots or near Yeritasardakan can cut a 15–20 minute walk down to 5–10.
Fare collection is simple: pay the 300 AMD in cash to the driver when you board or shortly after departure. Drivers typically accept small bills and coins, so bring at least one 500 AMD note from the terminal ATM or exchange counter rather than trying to hand over a 10,000.
How to ride Marshrutka Route 201, step by step
- 1. Land at EVN T2 and clear passport control and customs; this usually takes 15–40 minutes depending on arrivals.
- 2. Withdraw a small amount of cash from the arrivals ATM or exchange enough for at least 300–600 AMD if you’re two people.
- 3. Exit the arrivals doors and walk toward the road directly in front of T2; look for minibuses marked 201 or an airport–city sign.
- 4. Confirm with the driver that this is “201 Yerevan center” and board, keeping luggage by your seat or in the aisle space if it’s a backpack‑style bag.
- 5. Hand the driver 300 AMD per person once the bus starts moving and keep a mental note of Mashtots Avenue, Yeritasardakan metro, Republic Square, or Amiryan Street for your stop.
- 6. Ring the bell or call “stop” as you approach your landmark, step off carefully to the sidewalk, and switch to walking or a short GG/Yandex hop for the last 1–2 km.
What regulars do and what to watch
Reddit regulars who actually use 201 check the timetable online before landing, then walk straight out to the stop instead of hunting for signs inside T2. Locals replying on r/armenia often nudge people to GG or Yandex instead, saying they only bother with 201 when money is tight or they live close to Mashtots or Amiryan.
Watch out for the weak signage: EVN doesn’t really advertise Route 201, and Google Maps often hides or mislabels the stop, so you may need to ask “201 bus?” at the information desk. One last tip: if you land between 00:00 and 06:00 and see you’ve just missed a departure, compare the 60‑minute wait against an AMD 2,500–3,000 app taxi and decide if the savings are worth standing outside for an hour.
