AMD 300 gets you from T2 to central Yerevan in ~30 minutes
Airport Express Shuttle is minibus No. 201, run by Elitebus, running between Zvartnots T2 and downtown Yerevan for AMD 300 (about $0.75). It’s the low-cost play for solo budget travellers landing in the daytime or early night who are happy with a fixed route instead of door-to-door GG or Yandex rides that often cost around $7.50.
The service runs roughly every 30 minutes from 07:00 to 23:00, then every 60 minutes from 00:00 to 06:00, with a typical airport–city run taking about 30 minutes. One Reddit visitor summed it up: a bus every half hour, about half an hour to the city centre, for AMD 300 instead of taxi prices.
Route-wise, No. 201 starts at Zvartnots, then stops along Mashtots Avenue, hits Yeritasardakan metro station, passes through Republic Square, and finishes on Amiryan Street. If your hotel or hostel is near Republic Square, Mashtots, or Amiryan, this often gets you within a 5–10 minute walk, so you can skip a secondary taxi.
At the airport, look for the 201 shuttle stand outside T2 arrivals; signage can be minimal and Google Maps rarely shows current schedule info. Several r/armenia posters mention relying on Reddit threads and word-of-mouth because the timetable is not clearly advertised on site, despite the published 07:00–23:00 / 00:00–06:00 pattern.
Step-by-step from T2 arrivals to central Yerevan:
- 1. Exit T2 arrivals, walk straight out of the terminal, and follow signs or markings for public buses/shuttles for about 2–3 minutes.
- 2. Find the minibus marked 201 / Elitebus; if unsure, ask “201 Yerevan?” to the driver or people waiting.
- 3. Board and grab any free seat; keep small bills or coins ready for the AMD 300 fare.
- 4. Pay the driver during or right after boarding; some drivers give a paper ticket, some don’t.
- 5. For Republic Square, get off at the stop near the square’s fountains; for Amiryan Street hotels, stay on until the final stop on Amiryan.
One practical tip: if you land after about 22:30, check the clock at baggage claim; if you’ll miss the next 201 and are tired or carrying heavy bags, compare the AMD 300 shuttle against a GG/Yandex quote before committing to wait up to an hour overnight.
