Landing at T2 and heading straight to Gyumri or Vanadzor?

The Intercity Taxi Stand at Zvartnots (T2 arrivals) sits right by the access road to the M5 highway, so you can go straight from baggage claim to westbound or northbound towns without detouring into central Yerevan first. This setup works well if you’re coming off an international flight with two or three big suitcases or traveling as a group of 3–4 and want a private ride door to door.

The stand is outside the T2 arrivals hall exit, past the regular city-taxi queue and near the lanes feeding the M5, which is the main road toward Armavir and beyond. Look for drivers holding signs for places like Gyumri, Vanadzor, or Armavir rather than just “Yerevan.” Most cars are standard sedans, with a few minivans that can handle 4–6 passengers plus luggage if you ask.

There’s no fixed fare board yet, so expect to negotiate point-to-point prices: as of recent reports, airport-to-Gyumri usually runs less than a same-day car hire with driver from central Yerevan, especially when split between 3 people. Pay in Armenian dram if you can; drivers sometimes quote higher numbers in euros or US dollars. Agree on the final AMD amount, including any tolls or extra stops, before you put bags in the trunk.

Because these trips run 1–3 hours depending on destination, ask the driver how many minutes the ride will take to your specific town and confirm they’re using the M5 or other main highway rather than slower village roads. For example, EVN to Armavir is roughly 40–50 minutes in light traffic, while EVN to Gyumri is closer to 2 hours. If you’re arriving after midnight, options thin out, so be ready to wait 15–20 minutes for a suitable car.

Watch out for: aggressive freelancers who approach you inside T2 arrivals quoting flat prices to “any city.” The actual intercity taxi stand is outside by the marked lanes, not in the baggage hall. A simple rule: if you haven’t walked through the sliding doors and seen the road and parking area, you’re not at the official queue yet.

One practical tip: before you fly, write your destination town and exact address in Armenian (or print it) and keep a backup pin in an offline map; showing a clear address at the stand speeds things up and cuts 5–10 minutes of back-and-forth with drivers who don’t speak much English.
