Gate-side caffeine fix in T1
This Starbucks sits airside in Terminal 1 at East Midlands Airport, an easy stop after security if you still have 20–30 minutes before boarding. It’s the standard UK Starbucks setup: counter service, limited seating, and a steady queue at peak morning departures.
Prices run in the usual airport range for the chain, with most tall coffees and teas under £4 and larger espresso drinks creeping above that. The signature Caramel Macchiato is on the board in all sizes, and you can swap to oat, soy, or coconut milk for a small surcharge listed clearly on the menu.
The food case carries the familiar line-up of sandwiches, paninis, and pastries, with breakfast items appearing from around 5:00–5:30 a.m. to catch the early Ryanair and Jet2 departures. Expect croissants, pain au chocolat, and the usual wraps; hot items are reheated in a few minutes, so factor that into your boarding time.
Service speed tracks flight banks: during the 6:00–8:00 a.m. rush and early evening returns, queues of 10–15 people aren’t unusual, and drinks can take 5–10 minutes. Off-peak, you can be in and out with a flat white in under five minutes. Contactless payment is standard, and they accept the main UK app rewards barcode at the till.
If you stick with coffee, the espresso-based drinks and filter are consistent with other UK Starbucks locations, and staff generally remake drinks without fuss if they miss a customization. Frappuccinos and other blended drinks are available but slow the line noticeably, especially when two or more are in a single order.
Practical tip: order your Caramel Macchiato or filter first, then grab food from the case while they’re making it, and avoid cutting it closer than 20 minutes before the posted boarding time for gates at the far end of T1.
