Most hotel shuttles load at the far right of baggage claim

Hotel shuttles at El Paso International Airport (ELP) use van-style vehicles and usually pick up along the commercial curb outside baggage claim on the far right end near doors 3 and 4. The terminal has two concourses, A and B, but all checked bags and ground transport exit through the same lower-level baggage claim hall, so you don’t have to guess which curb to use.

Most major chain hotels within about 3–5 miles of ELP run free shuttle vans that operate roughly from 05:00 to 23:00, with a few airport-adjacent properties running 24/7 on request. You still need to confirm hours with the front desk when you book, since schedules can change by season or day of week, especially for early Sunday flights before 07:00.

Expect wait times of about 10–25 minutes after you call from baggage claim, since many hotels dispatch on demand rather than running fixed 15-minute loops. Some properties group runs at :00, :20, and :40 past the hour during busy evening banks, especially when multiple American and Southwest arrivals land between 19:00 and 21:00.

Typical shuttle range sits at roughly a 5-mile radius from ELP, covering hotel clusters along Airway Boulevard, Gateway Boulevard West, and Interstate 10 exits 24A–25. If your hotel is farther out, like near downtown El Paso or Las Cruces, you’ll usually need a rideshare or taxi instead of a hotel van, and that can add $20–$50 to the trip depending on distance and traffic.

Pickup rules vary by hotel: some tell you to head straight outside to the second lane marked “Hotel Shuttles” and wait by the sign, while others ask you to stand under a specific numbered pillar such as post 4D or 5B and look for their logo on the side of the van. Have your cell handy, because many drivers call when they’re 2–3 minutes out from the curb.

On the return to ELP, most hotels near Airway Boulevard want you in the lobby 10–15 minutes before the scheduled shuttle time, and they suggest leaving for the airport 90 minutes before domestic departures and about 2 hours before cross-border flights into Mexico. Some properties cap capacity at 10–12 passengers per van, so full loads during 06:00–08:00 departure banks may bump late arrivals to the next run.

One last tip: when you call the hotel from baggage claim, ask directly, “Which door number and lane do you pick up at ELP?” and write down the exact door (for example, door 4) so you’re not walking the curb with bags while vans cycle through in under 60 seconds.
