Edinburgh Gift Emporium

Souvenirs

Fridge magnets under £5 set the tone here

Edinburgh Gift Emporium sits airside in the main departures shopping stretch, so you hit it after security and before most gates. It’s a straightforward Scottish souvenir stop: tartan, shortbread, whisky miniatures, Nessie toys, and castle prints packed into a compact footprint. You can get in and out in under 10 minutes if you know what you want.

Typical hours track with early flights, opening around the first morning departures and running until the last evening bank, so you can usually grab something for a 06:00 or a 20:30 flight. Prices run from sub-£3 keyrings and pens up to £30–£40 for boxed whisky or gift sets. If you just need a small “I was in Scotland” token, you won’t struggle under £10.

The shelves lean hard into Edinburgh themes: castle skyline mugs, Royal Mile shots, tartan scarves and hats labelled with specific clan names, plus 3-packs of shortbread tins sized to slide into cabin bags. Whisky minis often come in 3x5cl sets, easier to explain at customs than a full 700ml bottle. Quality is very much airport-gift level, but it beats scrambling at Waverley station newsstands.

Skip bulky snow globes and giant plush Nessies unless you have roller-board space; several of the bigger items push carry-on limits and start around £20–£25. Magnet boards and postcard racks are closer to the aisle, so you can grab a couple for £1–£2 each without digging. Last tip: check the till area for small add-ons like tablet or fudge bars, which make cheap filler gifts and run under £3.
