BA elites aside, “First Class” at EDI means pay-per-use
At Edinburgh Airport’s main terminal, the First Class Lounge sits airside as a pay-per-use option, completely separate from British Airways’ Galleries space reserved for status and premium-cabin flyers. Access doesn’t depend on airline or cabin; you just pay at the door or via a lounge pass scheme and walk in once you’re through security.
The lounge sits in the main departures area after security, so you’re already past the central checkpoint and within a few minutes’ walk of most EDI gates. Figure on 5–10 minutes from the lounge to typical UK and European departure gates, so don’t cut it too tight when boarding groups start lining up at around T‑30.
Entry pricing usually lands in the £30–£40 range per person for around a three‑hour stay, depending on how you book. That fee covers soft drinks, basic snacks and light bites, plus Wi‑Fi and a seat away from the main terminal crowds. Alcoholic drinks are often limited to house brands, so don’t expect premium champagne or top-shelf whisky included at this price point.
Food leans more toward pastries, crisps and simple cold options rather than full hot meals, so if you want something substantial like a burger or pizza, you may still end up spending another £10–£15 elsewhere in the terminal. Think of this as a place to top up with a coffee and a sandwich, not a replacement for a sit-down restaurant.
Because access is pay-per-use and not tied to a single airline, the First Class Lounge fills up around early-morning bank times, especially between 06:00 and 09:00 when UK and European flights depart in waves. If you’re paying cash, that timing matters: a crowded lounge with limited spare seats can feel worse value than just grabbing a table at a café near your gate.
Practical tip: clear security at least 60 minutes before departure, then check real-time crowding at the First Class Lounge; if the front desk quotes a wait list or anything under an hour of usable time, save the £30+ and head straight for gate-side seating instead.
