Gate-area prices, but Yemaya actually feels like a real salon

Yemaya sits airside at King Shaka International Airport (DUR), just past security near the main departures retail strip. It runs through the core flight banks, usually opening around the first morning departures and trading into the early evening, so you can often squeeze in a quick treatment before a 07:00 or 18:00 flight. Think airport timing, not mall hours: staff work around the schedule board and will usually tell you upfront if there isn’t time for a longer service.

A basic file-and-paint or mini-mani typically runs in the low-hundreds of rand, more than a city salon but standard for DUR, while full sets and spa-style pedis climb higher. Pricing is clearly listed at the counter, so check the board before you sit. Most travellers drop in for a 20–30 minute shape and polish while watching the departure screens, rather than a full 60-minute treatment. Card payments are the norm; don’t count on using small foreign cash here.

Yemaya focuses on nails and quick beauty fixes: manicures, pedicures, and often a brow tidy or similar add-on service. Polish options usually include neutral business shades plus a few brighter colours, enough for a same-day meeting or holiday flight. Drying time is the real constraint: if boarding starts 30 minutes out at DUR, you want your hands free at least 15 minutes before your gate number (often B- or domestic gates) shows “boarding.”

Staff at Yemaya work fast when the midday bank of flights bunches up, but walk-ups still risk a short wait, especially around 10:00–14:00. Seats are limited, so one person with a small carry-on fits easily; two big roller bags do not. Tip: check your gate on the screens by the salon, then set a hard stop on your phone for 35 minutes before departure and tell the therapist that time when you sit down.
