Cosmic Candy sits airside at King Shaka International Airport (DUR), inside the main departures shopping strip after security. It hits you with bright colors and packed shelves the moment you clear the central duty-free zone and head toward the domestic gates.

Expect rows of packet sweets, lollipops, jelly candies, chocolates and novelty treats, all sold in airport pricing territory. Single bars start around the same price as a 500 ml soft drink in town, and gift-style boxes climb quickly, so this is more about last-minute cravings than bargain bulk buying.

Stock usually mixes South African brands like Beacon and Cadbury slabs with imported items and themed sweets for kids. You’ll also see large plastic tubs and themed tins that work as quick gifts if you forgot to grab something in Durban proper.

There’s no seating, no coffee machine and no fresh food counter here, just packaged sugar and a few small toys near the till. Figure on a 3–5 minute stop if you know what you want, 10 minutes if you let the kids choose their own mix.

Tip: If your gate is at the far end of the departures pier, swing past Cosmic Candy right after security; walking back from the last gates adds an extra 6–8 minutes you probably don’t have.
