Metered taxis, ordered through Uber, now run from both terminals
Uber Taxi at Dublin Airport (DUB) connects you to regular metered Dublin taxis, not private-hire UberX cars. You still tap the Uber app, but the driver shows up in a licensed taxi with a roof sign and a taximeter. Rides operate 24/7 from both T1 and T2, using the same curb areas as the standard taxi rank outside arrivals.
From T1 arrivals, it’s about a 2–3 minute walk to the taxi forecourt once you pass baggage belt 1–13 and exit by the main doors. From T2, you follow the ground transportation signs past baggage belt 5–10 and reach the taxi area in roughly 3 minutes. There’s no separate Uber pickup zone at Dublin Airport; your Uber Taxi booking matches you with a driver already working the official taxi queue.
Fares run on the regulated Dublin taxi meter, with a minimum fare of around €4.50 and typical city-centre trips from DUB landing in the €25–€40 range depending on time of day and traffic on the M1. The Uber app shows an estimate in euros before you confirm, but final price follows the meter, not surge pricing. You pay through the app, so no need to stop at an ATM in arrivals.
Step-by-step from landing in T1: 1) Clear immigration and baggage claim, which usually takes 15–40 minutes for Schengen and UK arrivals. 2) Open the Uber app while you’re still inside the terminal to use airport Wi‑Fi. 3) Select Uber Taxi; if you see other products like UberX, they will not dispatch from DUB. 4) Set your pickup pin to “Dublin Airport Terminal 1 – Taxi Rank.” 5) Walk 150–200 meters to the signed taxi forecourt and match the plate number in the app to the taxi at the curb.
Same flow from T2 with one change: in step 4), choose “Dublin Airport Terminal 2 – Taxi Rank” in the app. Walking distance is about 200 meters from the arrivals hall doors to the pickup point. If the app shows a 0–3 minute wait time, you’re likely matching a taxi already in the physical queue.
Watch out for roaming data charges if you arrive from outside the EU; a quick fix is to join the free “Dublin Airport Free WiFi” network before opening Uber. One last tip: screenshot your estimated fare and route in the app before you get in, so if you hit traffic on the M50 or through Drumcondra you have a clear reference for what you expected to pay.
