Oryx Lounge

Main showers Day pass $74

$74 at DOH gets you into Oryx Lounge, usually calmer than Qatar’s status rooms

Oryx Lounge sits in the Main terminal at Hamad International and runs as a paid / contract lounge for Priority Pass, select airlines, and walk-ins at about $74 per visit. Frequent DOH flyers say it feels a bit dated next to Al Mourjan or the Gold Lounge, but also mention that seats are easier to find in the peak midnight bank. If you care more about a chair and a shower than fancy branding, this is the angle here.

The lounge is airside in the Main terminal, so you clear security first and then follow signs for Oryx Lounge off the central concourse. Reports put it roughly on par with a solid 3-star hotel lobby: functional seating, some views into the terminal, power outlets at many chairs, and Wi‑Fi fast enough for streaming. Expect self-serve soft drinks, coffee machines, and basic spirits and beer included in the entry fee rather than QR’s more premium bar line-up.

Food gets mixed reviews compared with Qatar Airways’ own lounges, which is why FlyerTalk regulars often rank Oryx below the Gold Lounge. Think hot trays of rice, pasta, and a couple of meat dishes, plus sandwiches and pastries, not made-to-order dining. One DOH thread groups Oryx in the lower tier for both taste and variety, which matters more on long layovers in the 4–8 hour range.

Showers are the sleeper win here: multiple users report no reservations needed and easy access even “during rush hour,” a big contrast with Al Maha’s waitlist system. If you land in the midnight bank and want to be showered and changed in under 20 minutes, Oryx is often the quickest route. Towels and basic toiletries are included, on par with a standard contract lounge setup.

Several older trip reports mention “sleep pod things” inside the lounge that people used for a short nap, though the exact current layout shifts from year to year. Regulars treat Oryx as the backup when Al Mourjan or the Gold Lounge are full or when status rules block entry. Some say they’d rather pay a small premium over the $74 Oryx price to move up to the Gold Lounge if eligibility and space line up.

Tip: if your priority is a fast shower between QR flights during the midnight or 6 a.m. banks, walk straight to Oryx after passport control in the Main terminal instead of queuing at the busier Qatar-branded lounges.
