50–100 metres from Terminal 2 check-in doors
Terminal 2 Car Park sits directly in front of Dar es Salaam’s Terminal 2 at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), so you walk a minute or two from your car to the check-in desks. It’s an open-air surface lot, easy to spot as soon as you approach the terminal building along Julius K. Nyerere Road.
This is the obvious choice if you’re flying regional or domestic airlines that still operate from Terminal 2, rather than Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. Being landside, you park before security, pay at the on-site machines or kiosk, then walk straight to the departures doors on the same level.
Pricing at Terminal 2 Car Park is usually by the hour for short stays, with higher daily charges if you leave the car through multiple calendar days. It’s best to check current Tanzanian shilling rates at the entrance board or airport website before committing to multi-day parking, because long-term options around the wider airport area sometimes undercut the on-airport daily rate.
The layout is single-level surface parking with marked bays, so no ramps or tight turns. Standard spaces handle regular sedans and SUVs; oversized vehicles may need to use the outer rows closer to the perimeter fencing. Lighting poles run through the main lanes, improving visibility at night arrivals after 20:00, when many regional flights still land at DAR.
Security is basic airport-style: vehicle access is controlled at the entry barrier, and the lot sits within the wider Julius Nyerere International Airport grounds, which have patrols and CCTV in main traffic areas. Still, remove valuables from sight and avoid leaving bags on seats if your car stays for more than 24 hours.
Tip: traffic on the access road can bunch up around Terminal 2 during morning banks between 06:00 and 09:00, so add 20 extra minutes to reach the car park barrier and still make check-in in time.
