30–60 minute drop-offs go fastest in Premium Parking Zone
Premium Parking Zone sits directly in front of Julius Nyerere International Airport’s main terminal complex, closest to Terminals 2 and 3. It’s a short-stay option, meant for quick drop-offs, pick-ups, or meetings that run under a couple of hours. You enter via the primary airport access road, then follow signs marked “Premium Parking” rather than the general lots.
This is a short-stay car park, so pricing usually runs higher per hour than the long-stay areas on the outer airport roads. It’s set up for turnarounds in the 30–120 minute range, not overnight stays. If you plan to leave the car for more than 4–5 hours, compare the published rates at the standard parking zones further from Terminals 1, 2, and 3 before committing.
Premium Parking Zone is outside security, directly in front of departures and arrivals, so you can walk to the Terminal 3 doors in about 2–4 minutes depending on where you find a bay. That helps if you’re meeting an arriving passenger and want to stand at the glass doors instead of waiting at the curb. For Terminal 1 domestic flights, plan on a slightly longer walk of around 5–7 minutes from the same lot.
Payment usually runs through staffed booths or automated machines at the exit gate, with pricing posted on boards near the entry barrier. Have small Tanzanian shilling notes or a working card ready to avoid holding up the queue behind you. Keep your printed ticket dry and flat; damaged tickets often trigger a manual fee check which can add 5–10 minutes at peak times.
Tip: If you’re meeting an evening arrival, aim to enter Premium Parking Zone 15–20 minutes after the scheduled landing time to avoid paying for extra waiting while the passenger clears immigration and baggage at DAR.
