McDonald's

Big Mac in Cusco before your next flight

This McDonald's sits inside Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ), so you clear security first and then follow signs toward the main boarding area. It runs on typical airport hours, roughly from early morning check-in times until the last evening departures, catching most LATAM and SKY flights out of Cusco. Expect a tight dining space with a few tables; many people just grab bags and eat at the gate.

Menu hits the usual suspects: Big Mac, Quarter Pounder-style burgers, McNuggets, fries, and soft-serve cones. Prices land a bit higher than city locations in Cusco; think airport markup of a few extra soles per combo. You’ll also see local tweaks, like occasional Peruvian sauces or different desserts compared with US outlets, but nothing too wild. Drinks include bottled water, soft drinks, and basic coffee.

Service speed varies a lot by time of day. When several flights to Lima bunch together in the afternoon, the line can stretch 10–15 people deep and add 15 minutes to your food run. Morning lines around 06:00–07:30 are shorter but still steady. Order accuracy is generally fine, but double-check sauces and drink sizes at pickup; fixing mistakes can add a few minutes when staff are juggling multiple orders.

If you want something small before a short hop to Lima (usually about 1 hour 20 minutes), the fries and nuggets are the easiest to eat at the gate. Burgers travel fine, but the buns can steam in the wrapper if you walk the terminal for more than 5–10 minutes. Card payment in soles is standard; some cashiers also accept USD notes but give change in PEN at their own rate.

Tip: hit McDonald's before you go to your gate if you’re in the last few boarding groups; lines shrink right after a major departure, then spike again about 40 minutes before the next bank of flights.
